A mixed bag

"Rise and Fall of Dons" has an intriguing premise, but its execution leaves room for improvement.

One major issue is the presence of long pauses. These interruptions break the flow of the narrative and can be quite jarring. Additionally, the background sound effects don't always mesh well with these pauses, making them even more noticeable.

The first chapter falls flat, failing to engage the listener in a way that would keep them coming back for more. However, the story picks up significantly after that, becoming much more captivating and engaging. This uneven pacing can be frustrating for some listeners, as they may not give the show a chance to get good before tuning out.

One of the show's strengths is its use of first-person narration by various characters. This approach allows the listener to connect with the characters on a deeper level and understand their motivations and perspectives. It also makes the story feel more dynamic and interesting.

"Rise and Fall of Dons" has the potential to be a great podcast. However, the uneven pacing detract from the overall experience. If these issues are addressed in future seasons, the show could become a must-listen for fans of the genre.
