About this listen
Today’s episode describes my journey from insecure housing to homeownership. As a single mother and woman who is constantly challenging the status quo and beating the odds, I am super excited to share this journey with you all!
Additional note regarding the down payment: I don’t think I mentioned but I had a one-year financial goal. A portion of this goal would be to purchase a house and some would go towards publishing my second book. By practicing a fairly strict savings budget, I was able to reach my goal in six months.
Any extra money I received and didn’t immediately need went to my savings account. Despite my budget and goal, I still treated myself whenever I wanted because it was important for me to still live along the way.
The minimum down payment on a house is 5% of the purchase cost (i.e. A $300,000 house with a 5% downpayment would cost you $15,000 + closing fees)
Closing costs are approximately $3,000
