  • Episode 6: WHAT IF Therapy Made Space For Hmong Shamanic Practices Hmong?
    Jan 28 2026

Michi Marks (she/they) is a Hmong American Marriage and Family Therapist–in-training, integration and implementation coach, and spiritual practitioner whose work bridges Western psychotherapy with ancestral animist traditions. Their approach draws from liberation psychology, experiential therapies, and systems thinking, with a focus on relational, embodied, and contextual healing.

Michi identifies as neurodivergent, queer, genderfluid, and bicultural — identities that inform their commitment to liberatory and culturally rooted approaches to wellness. Michi is currently completing their MFT training and hopes to eventually apprentice formally within the Hmong shamanic tradition. Their work centers the belief that healing is not only individual but ancestral, communal, and relational.

To learn more or stay connected, you can read Michi’s Substack, where they write about lineage, identity, and books that have shaped their thinking. If you’re interested in working with Michi clinically, you can reach out through Edges Wellness or Psychology Today. They are currently only accepting couples and families at this time.

  • Episode 5: WHAT IF We Remembered the Roots of Chinese Medicine?
    Dec 24 2025

In this episode of Sacred Tea & Nourished Souls, I sit down with an acupuncturist to explore the question: What If We Remembered the Roots of Chinese Medicine?

Together, we talk about honoring lineage, cultural context, and the spiritual foundations of Chinese medicine — and how these roots can become obscured when the practice is removed from its history and community. This conversation invites listeners to reflect on healing not just as a technique, but as cultural memory, responsibility, and relationship.

Whether you’re a practitioner, a patient, or simply curious about holistic healing, this episode offers space to consider how medicine can be practiced with respect, intention, and connection to its origins.

Li-Lan Hsiang Weiss has been a practicing acupuncturist in Durham, NC since 2005. She was one of the first acupuncturists in her area to hold a community acupuncture clinic for the Spanish speaking community for over 10 years. She is the founder of Armonia Health LLC, an acupuncture, massage, and shamanic healing wellness center in Durham with Spanish and English-speaking practitioners.

Li-Lan's current interest, from 20 years of clinical practice, includes reflecting and sharing on the Five Path/Element model for systems where it is not traditionally applied, such as in running a heart-centered business, in inner resiliency trainings for non-profits involved in climate and social justice, in collaboration with the creative arts, and in healing trends pertinent to her community in the American South. She is interested in exploring through conversations how the worldview of Chinese medicine can be applicable in other areas.
