The Old Testament book of Joshua tells how God fulfils His promise by giving Israel the Promised Land. The call to His people then, as it is now, is one of courageous Faith and wholehearted Obedience. The book points us forward to the Lord Jesus as the one who brings His people to a greater and lasting rest.

'For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.' Hebrews Ch 4:8

Passage for consideration ; Joshua Chapter 2

The letter to the Hebrews is ablaze with the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ; the glory of his deity, his manhood, his priesthood and sacrifice, his triumphant life of faith, his resurrection and ascension, and the certainty of his coming again. At the same time it contains dark and sombre warnings, which are longer and more solemn than any we find in the other letters of the New Testament. Because of these warnings many Christians have found Hebrews a difficult letter to understand - some have even found it frightening
