About this listen

A podcast for theatre lovers, where two friends and theatre directors delve into plays and talk text. Each week we read, discuss and dissect a new play script. We lust over punctuation choices, pull characters intentions apart, and generally try our darnedest not to pronounce anything incorrectly. Hosted by Lexie Ward & Meg Robinson.© 2023 Script In Hand Art Entertainment & Performing Arts

Jay Chavez (they/them) is a Seattle based playwright, educator, and all around theatre maker. Through the power of Red Bulls they earned a BA in Theatre from Western Washington University, concentrating in Directing, Dramatic Writing, and Education. They were crowned the unofficial title of Lil’ Miss Kennedy Center and Miss Kennedy Center Continental for their play “how to clean your room (and remember all your trauma)” which was also the winner those awards I mentioned previously. “how to clean” is featured in the Methuen Drama Book of Trans Plays, a first of it’s kind anthology of Trans plays written by Trans playwrights for Trans people. It’s been over two decades and Jay is still chasing the knowledge of how wind works. They currently work as a Teaching Artist at Seattle Children’s Theatre teaching playwriting, sketch comedy, and acting. Along with that, they also have the totally real not fake job as a Marine Science Puppeteer at the Seattle Aquarium teaching patrons about empathy around sea creatures.

  • We Know Now Snowmen Exist by Michael Spencer
    Nov 24 2022

It's our final play of season 4! And in a bid to keep it seasonal, we're covering WE KNOW NOW SNOWMEN EXIST, a play with buckets of snow AND a snowman....(and a horror edge inspired by a creepy urban myth, but that's okay right?)
A play that tries to answer the age old question of just what is a horseradish; and why would a group of young women feel the need to cut their way out of a tent when the exit is right there? Is it because just maybe...snowmen exist? With special guest playwright Michael Spencer.

Co Hosted by Lexie Ward and Meg Robinson.
Music By Connor Barton (Sethera Sound Design)
