    Ingredients


    2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey

    1 sugar cube (or ½ tsp simple syrup)

    2–3 dashes Angostura bitters

    A few drops of water

    Ice (one large cube is best)

    Orange peel (garnish)

    Optional: Luxardo cherry

    Instructions:


    Build the base


    In a rocks glass, add the sugar cube and bitters.

    Add a few drops of water and muddle until dissolved.

    Add the whiskey


    Pour in 2 oz of bourbon or rye.

    Ice & stir


    Add a large ice cube and stir gently for about 20–30 seconds until chilled and slightly diluted.

    Express the orange


    Twist an orange peel over the glass to release the oils, then drop it in.

    Garnish (optional)


    Add a Luxardo cherry if you like a touch of sweetness.
