I wanted to create a space where we can celebrate one another for showing up strong in our lives. What that looks like for each individual may be different. How I show up strong in my life to someone else may be the easiest thing, but it was the hardest thing for me.

Creating this She Plays Strong space to celebrate these moments together, having no idea where it will go and not having it all figured out, but having faith and trust in myself to figure it out as I go, is me playing strong in my life.

I wanted to create that space where we can genuinely celebrate how strong these moments are in our lives and embrace the power of you doing strong things.

Here are a few questions I want to leave you with,

Recently, I was hanging out by a ski dock when an older couple pulled up and was checking in with me to make sure they were in the right place.

The couple was very much in their 70’s and my initial thought was they must be here watching someone ski, how wonderful!! It is not uncommon to have grandparents come watch or bring their grandkids to come learn how to water ski. I find out very quickly that I was so wrong in my assumption. THEY were the skiers!

I have spent a large portion of my life in comparison mode, people-pleasing mode, and self-deprecating communication with myself. I started learning how to communicate differently with myself a few years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I can still slip back into this pattern, but I started practicing talking nicely about myself about 10 years ago.

And it IS a practice. With any practice, the beginning stages of something new felt awkward and almost wrong. It sounded like I was being arrogant. At first, I would practice in the privacy of my own home. No way could I let other people hear me say nice things about myself; what would they think?
