About this listen

Those of us who have lost children and loved ones are grieving in silence. The average time off for bereavment is only three days. Life is expected to go on as if nothing happened. There is an expectation to move on and not bring up our dead child's name.

This podcast offers comfort for people who have lost children. We will break the silence and share our difficulties with living without our beloved children. But we don't just share difficulties, our stories are also bound up in hope!Copyright Jimmy and Clara Hinton

    Apr 28 2026
Is there anything that will help my grief? We've all be there. In fact, you might be there now. Things seem like they will never get better. Grief does that to us. Those of us who are no strangers to it know that it takes a LONG (very long!) time to rebuild our lives and start pulling ourselves out of the funk.

The good news is that there is a lot we can be doing to help restore our weary souls. Tune in to hear some of the things that have worked for me. After nearly 11 years, I can finally say that I'm in a much better place emotionally. You will get there.

  • Episode 74 | What is the "new normal?"
    Apr 21 2026
The elephant in the room is that we are not the same after losing a child. NOTHING is the same, nor will it ever be. But there is a point in which we equalize a little bit and we find a place in life when we can breathe again. We call this the "new normal." It's a sort of baseline that we are familiar with.

So what is your "new normal?" Maybe it's simply the ability to function day-to-day. Maybe it's feeling physically fit again. Maybe it's taking up crocheting or fishing again. Whatever it is, we can get there.

  • Episode 73 | What is happening to my family?
    Mar 31 2026
Do you ever wonder why you family seems to fall apart after the loss of a child? It turns out that you are not alone. When communication breaks down, so can the family. Grief is messy. We all grieve differently, and that can lead to a lot of confusion and hurt feelings within a family. Husbands and wives grieve differntly, and this can lend itself to miscommunication and hurt feelings.

In this episode, we talk about ways families can communicate better so they can work through their grief together.
