    Feb 27 2026

    Send a text

In May 2008, Brandon Swanson, a 19-year-old college student from Minnesota, vanished after crashing his car in a rural area near Lynd, Minnesota. Believing he was closer to home than he actually was, Brandon called his parents for help and stayed on the phone with them for nearly an hour as he tried to walk toward nearby lights he thought were a town. During the call, he suddenly exclaimed, “Oh, shit,” and the line went dead. Brandon Swanson’s disappearance remains one of Minnesota’s most haunting unsolved missing-person cases—frozen in time by a final phone call that ended without explanation.

  • Episode 175: Banita Jacks: A Mother's Deadly Secret
    Feb 20 2026

    Send a text

Banita Jacks is a Washington, D.C. resident who was convicted in 2009 for the murder of her four daughters: Brittany (17), Tatianna (11), N'Kiah (6), and Aja (5). The case gained national attention due to the tragic circumstances of the girls' deaths and the systemic failures of local social services. In January 2008, U.S. Marshals arrived at Jacks’ southeast D.C. rowhouse to serve an eviction notice. Inside, they discovered the decomposing bodies of the four children in upstairs bedrooms. Investigators estimated the girls had been dead for several months, potentially since the late summer of 2007, during which time Jacks continued to live in the home with the remains. Jacks waived her right to a jury trial, leaving the decision to D.C. Superior Court Judge Frederick H. Weisberg. In July 2009, she was convicted of four counts of felony murder, three counts of first-degree premeditated murder, and four counts of child cruelty. In December 2009, Banita Jacks was sentenced to 120 years in prison (30 years for each child). The case led to significant reforms in Washington, D.C.'s Child and Family Services Agency after it was revealed that multiple reports of neglect had not been properly investigated prior to the murders.

  • Episode 174: Jeffrey Dahmer // Part 4
    Feb 13 2026

    Send a text

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, A.K.A. The Milwaukee Monster, A.K.A. The Milwuakee Cannibal, was born on May 21, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the first of two sons. His childhood was marked by family instability, frequent moves, and emotional neglect. He showed early signs of withdrawal, fascination with dead animals, and difficulty forming relationships. His parents’ volatile marriage ended in divorce shortly after he graduated high school.

In 1978, at age 18, Dahmer committed his first murder, killing Steven Hicks shortly after Hicks picked him up while hitchhiking. Dahmer dismembered the body and scattered the remains, then went undetected. In the years that followed, he drifted through college, the Army, and low-level jobs, struggling with severe alcoholism and repeated failures. He was discharged from the Army in 1981 and later convicted of indecent exposure in 1982.

By the mid-1980s, Dahmer was living in Milwaukee, drinking heavily, and working nights at the Ambrosia Chocolate Factory. His sexual fantasies increasingly centered on control and unconscious partners. On November 20, 1987, after nearly a decade without killing, Dahmer murdered Steven Tuomi in a Milwaukee hotel room—an act that marked the beginning of his sustained killing spree, though it was not yet known to authorities.

  • Episode 130: Wade Wilson and The Murders of Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz
    Jan 31 2026

    Send a text

In October 2019, Wade Wilson, a 25-year-old from Fort Myers, Florida, committed the brutal murders of two women in Cape Coral. On October 6, Wilson met 35-year-old Kristine Melton at a local bar and accompanied her home. The following morning, he strangled Melton to death in her residence. Later that day, Wilson encountered 43-year-old Diane Ruiz as she walked to work. After luring her into a vehicle he had stolen from Melton, Wilson strangled Ruiz and, upon realizing she was still alive, ran her over multiple times, leading to her death. In June 2024, a jury convicted Wilson of two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, along with charges of grand theft, burglary, battery, and petit theft. The jury recommended the death penalty, which was upheld by Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson in August 2024. Judge Thompson cited the heinous, atrocious, and cruel nature of the murders, as well as the cold, calculated premeditation of the second murder, as factors in his decision. Wilson's crimes have had a profound impact on the Cape Coral community and the families of the victims. Melton was remembered as a cat lover and a great friend, while Ruiz was a mother of two sons and described as the "heartbeat of the bar" where she worked.
