If you're converting a school bus - or even just considering the idea - there's a very, very long list of things you need to consider. As a result, some people go through the list and decide that it's just not right for them; at least not right now.
We welcome back our friends Nick & Nick from The National Skoolie Association to expand on some of the things we started to talk about in Episode One. Additionally, we dig into detail on some of the ideas we didn't cover before.
Converting a School Bus - The Research Phase
Some of the things to start looking into, and questions to ask:
- Where do I buy a bus? (The internet? Auctions? Craigslist?)
- What things should I look out for, and what things are deal-breakers?
- How do Skoolie owners deal with rust?
- How big of a bus do I need?
- What's my skill set, and how much help will I need?
One of the most common reasons why people end up abandoning their dream of converting a school bus is that it ends up taking either more time, more money or more skills than they thought.
The whole idea behind Skoolie Skool, whether here on our podcast or on our soon-to-launch YouTube channel, is to help you avoid getting to that place.
In this week's podcast episode, we also start to think about the products we're going to use, and start to paint a picture for you on exactly how we're handling products, sponsors and experts going forward. It's sort of a "policy" thing with us that was shaped by the 40-year broadcast career of our host, Neil Hedley. Some might describe our approach as being "ass-backwards", but we hope you'll appreciate the ideas behind it.
We're glad you joined us for Episode Two, and we're looking forward to hitting the road with you soon.
