About this listen

-For adults only-

Pansexual polyamorous kinkster, proud slut, and PhD sociologist Julie Fennell discusses some of the things near and dear to her heart and overanalytical brain. Expect lots of in-depth and highly opinionated discussions about her areas of professional expertise like gender and sexuality, along with plenty of content on sex and relationships, polyamory, BDSM, and the wild world of artistic rope bondage (shibari). Some episodes are solo, and many are duo/interviews. This podcast is what happens when an academic goes rogue!

  • Farewell for Now...
    Jan 7 2026

This podcast has been such an interesting and fun journey! Thank you to everyone who has joined me on this adventure!

I'm taking an indefinite hiatus to focus on my writing, but there's a good chance I'll be back once my current projects are complete. Maybe I'll podcast again as SlutPhD, or maybe I'll spin off into a different podcast. Regardless, I'll post another episode to SlutPhD so you can find whatever I'm doing next, so follow this podcast and my blog to keep up with me!

One of the big questions facing the future of the podcast is financial sustainability. Monetizing a podcast isn't very straightforward, and, like so many other folks, I am severely underemployed right now. If I can get enough donations over the next 3-4 months to make it look plausible to continue podcasting, I'll be happy to continue! If you'd like to discuss potential sponsorship, please reach out to me at theslut@slutphd.com!

If you've enjoyed this podcast, please *buy me a coffee"!

Trigger warnings: vague discussion of sexual assault and sexual harassment

Having gotten therapy from Jasmine in Part 1, in Part 2 Julie interviews Jasmine about her experiences with the adult industry. While being honest about some of the challenges sex workers like her face, Jasmine talks frankly about how different the industry has become and how welcome she has felt there.
