About this listen

Social Work Mums – Beyond Burnout is a podcast for social workers who are exhausted, overwhelmed, and quietly wondering if there’s more to life than constant stress and survival mode. Hosted by Ade Larigo — social worker, mum, and someone who truly gets it — this show is about reclaiming energy, confidence, and choice. It’s honest conversations about burnout, boundaries, identity, and the pressure of carrying both professional responsibility and family life. But it doesn’t stop there. This podcast also explores what life beyond burnout can look like — from creating additional income streams to building flexibility, freedom, and financial resilience outside traditional social work roles. Expect real stories, practical ideas, mindset shifts, and reassurance that wanting more doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful or failing. If you’re a social work mum who loves the heart of the job but is tired of sacrificing your wellbeing, this space is for you. You’re not broken. You’re burnt out — and there is another way forward.

Ade Larigo is a practising social worker, mum, and the founder of Agency Connection, which she launched in 2021 after recognising gaps in diversity, equity, and fair representation within parts of adoption and fostering. With several years of frontline experience working across Local Authorities and Independent Fostering Agencies, Ade understands first-hand the emotional demands and burnout that many social workers — particularly working mums — face every day. Through her work and lived experience, Ade is passionate about supporting social work mums to protect their wellbeing, reconnect with their identity beyond the role, and explore alternative ways to create flexibility and financial security. She believes social workers should not have to sacrifice their health or family life to do meaningful work. Ade continues to work primarily within adoption and fostering and is a committed advocate for diversity, inclusion, and sustainable careers in social work.
