  • With Kailee: The Busiest Weekend of the Year
    Jul 10 2026

    Hey, What's Up! It's Tommy.

I hope you're having a great week! This episode is a little different because Kailee joins me to look back on one of the busiest and most emotional weekends of our year. We talk about our hometown festival, our annual 5K for Autism, raising a child with profound autism, and learning to let go of unrealistic expectations.

If you've ever felt like your family's life doesn't look like everyone else's, this conversation is for you. We share what we've learned about finding joy in the middle of hard seasons, making memories in your own way, and why comparing your life to someone else's only steals your peace.

Sometimes the best moments happen when life doesn't go according to plan.

    Key Takeaways
    • Why our annual 5K for Autism continues to make a difference by raising thousands of dollars for local schools and special needs programs.
    • How autism changes family traditions and why that's okay.
    • Learning to stop comparing your family to what you see on social media.
    • Why missing fireworks, holidays, or special events doesn't mean you're missing out on life.
    • The importance of finding community that understands your journey.
    • How rest is essential for parents caring for children with special needs.
    • A touching story about meeting a young man with cerebral palsy that changed my perspective during one of the hardest moments of the weekend.
    • Why gratitude helps shift your focus from what's missing to what's already been given.
    • How chiropractic care helped Wyatt recover after an overstimulating weekend.
    • Practical encouragement for parents who feel stretched thin and emotionally exhausted.

If this episode encouraged you, please share it with another parent who may need to hear it. Your support helps more families discover they are not alone on this journey.

  • Independence Day Reflections, Family, and Finding Hope
    Jul 3 2026

    Hey, What's Up! It's Tommy.

Happy Independence Day! I hope you and your family have an incredible Fourth of July weekend.

This week, I'm sharing a little bit of what's happening in our world as our hometown Fireman's Festival kicks off. Serving our community has always filled me with purpose, and it's a reminder that investing in the next generation matters.

More importantly, I want to share some exciting progress we're seeing with Wyatt.

For years, sleep has been one of our biggest challenges. If you've walked this road, you know how exhausting it can be when your child wakes up night after night. Recently, we've made a few simple changes that have completely surprised us. More time swimming, a different magnesium supplement, and staying consistent with the routines we've worked so hard to build have helped Wyatt sleep through the night more than ever before.

Those changes have brought peace into our home in ways I can't fully describe.

I also talk about why I continue to believe in focusing on regulation before giving up hope. Every child is different, and every family has a different path. Sometimes medications are absolutely necessary, and there should never be shame in that. At the same time, I believe it's worth exploring healthy habits, nutrition, hydration, movement, chiropractic care, and other supportive therapies that may help your child reach their highest level of function.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is this: celebrate every victory.

Watching Wyatt enjoy something as simple as throwing little popper fireworks without trying to put them in his mouth may seem like a tiny moment to someone else. For our family, it was huge. Those little victories remind us that progress often happens one step at a time.

If you're feeling discouraged today, I hope this episode reminds you that you're not walking this journey alone. There are parents, doctors, therapists, researchers, and advocates working every day to create a brighter future for our children.

Don't lose hope in what tomorrow might bring.

    Key Takeaways
    • Small victories deserve big celebrations because they often lead to even greater breakthroughs.
    • Swimming can provide sensory regulation, exercise, and improved sleep for many children with autism.
    • Consistent routines, healthy habits, hydration, and nutrition can make a meaningful difference over time.
    • Better sleep benefits the entire family and can dramatically improve quality of life.
    • Every child has a unique journey. Focus on helping them reach their highest level of function.
    • Community matters. You're not alone in the challenges of raising a child with autism.
    • Gratitude helps shift our perspective, even during difficult seasons.
    • Continue searching for hope because new therapies, research, and opportunities are emerging every day.

  • The Hidden Power of Gratitude
    Jun 26 2026

    Hey, What's Up! It's Tommy.

Happy Friday! I hope you've had an incredible week. Around here, summer is flying by. Between getting ready for our hometown Fireman's Festival, planning our Autism 5K, and spending time with family, life has been full. It reminded me how important community really is and how much serving others fills our hearts.

This week, I watched a video by Dr. Johnny Miles that shared 10 fascinating facts about the human body and brain. Some of the points challenged the way I think about stress, healing, sleep, gut health, and even gratitude. It sparked a much bigger conversation about autism, parenting, and how God designed us with incredible potential.

As parents of children with autism and other special needs, it's easy to hear information about stress or poor sleep and immediately feel discouraged. Many of us already carry more than we ever imagined possible. I know I do. My greatest fear has always been wondering who will care for my son if I'm no longer here.

Instead of staying trapped in those fears, I want to encourage you to look at something different. The same brain that can become overwhelmed by stress also has an incredible ability to heal, adapt, and grow. Through faith, gratitude, healthy habits, and intentional choices, we can begin changing the way we experience life.

We also discuss how nutrition affects behavior, especially in children on the autism spectrum. After years of trial and error with our own son, we've seen firsthand how certain foods impacted his mood and meltdowns. Every child is different, but understanding the connection between gut health and behavior can be an important piece of the puzzle.

This episode is a reminder that hope is still alive. Science continues to uncover amazing things about the human body, but none of it surprises the God who created us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and even during the hardest seasons, there is still room for healing, growth, and gratitude.

    Key Takeaways
    • Why volunteering and serving others can improve your own mental health.
    • The connection between gut health, serotonin production, and emotional well-being.
    • Personal experiences using dietary changes to help reduce autism meltdowns.
    • Why chronic stress affects both the brain and the body.
    • How focusing on pain can actually increase the experience of pain.
    • Encouragement for parents carrying the daily weight of raising children with profound needs.
    • Why gratitude is one of the simplest ways to begin changing your mindset.
    • How practicing gratitude may strengthen positive neural pathways and reduce anxiety.
    • Why faith remains the foundation through every uncertainty.
    • Practical encouragement for living with hope instead of fear.
