  • Episode 106 - The Murder of Sylvia Likens
    Jun 24 2026

This week on Spine-Chilling Chats, Ang takes us to Indiana to cover one of the most heartbreaking and disturbing cases in the state’s history, the tragic murder of Sylvia Likens. In 1965, 16-year-old Sylvia was placed in the care of Gertrude Baniszewski while her parents were away, believing she would be safe. Instead, Sylvia endured months of unimaginable cruelty, abuse, and torment that would ultimately lead to her tragic death. In this episode, Ang discusses the events leading up to Sylvia’s murder, the individuals responsible, the failures that allowed the abuse to continue, and the trial that shocked the nation. While this story is incredibly difficult to hear, we take time to remember Sylvia not only as a victim of a horrific crime, but as a young girl whose life was taken far too soon. As always, we approach these stories with respect for the victims and their loved ones, sharing these cases to honor those who were lost and to ensure their stories are never forgotten. **Trigger Warning: This episode includes discussions of child abuse, torment, torture, sexual abuse, and murder. Viewer discretion is strongly advised. The video version of this episode also contains graphic images related to the case.**

Join us as we uncover the heartbreaking story of Sylvia Likens.
