Stig interviews Jaime Pina of Chemical People 07-29-11

    Website | http://www.chemicalpeople.com/

Chemical People were an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States, in 1986. The band toured the United States, Canada and in Europe and broke up in 1997.

    History[edit]

The band's initial line-up was Dave Nazworthy (aka Dave Naz - vocals, drums, guitar), Ed Urlik (bass guitar), Jaime Pina (guitar), and Blair Jobe (vocals, guitar).[1] Jobe left the band prior to the release of debut album So Sexist! in 1988.[1] They followed this with Ten-Fold Hate in 1989, with hardcore pornography a common lyrical theme with guest vocals by Jack Baker on the track 'Black Throat' (for the XXX flick of the same name which Baker starred in) and porn star Taija Rae on the cover.[1]

In 1990, Nazworthy and Urlik teamed up with Dave Smalley to form Down by Law.[2] They returned to Chemical People and released the mini-set Angels 'n' Devils towards the end of the year. The band contributed soundtrack material to several porn films and these were collected on the 1991 album Soundtracks.[1]

Pina left, and guitar duties were handled by Dave Naz, Ed Urlik and by Redd Kross guitarist Robert Hecker, and the new line-up recorded the Chemical People album (1992).[1]

After a five-year hiatus, the band returned in 1997 with a new album, Arpeggio Motorcade, after which they stopped actively playing live in 1998. Chemical People still remain a band hidden away, playing occasionally in their studio with members Dave Naz, Ed Urlik and Jaime Pina. At some point the band may be back playing shows...[1]

    From Wikipedia:
Tex & the Horseheads is an American punk rock band, which emerged in the Los Angeles punk subcultureof the early-1980.[1] Their original run was from 1980 to 1986 and during this time they enjoyed a sizeable cult following. As of 2007, the band has reunited and tours the Los Angeles area sporadically.
    Biography[edit]
Tex & the Horseheads are often cited as among the first bands to play "cowpunk."[2] The sound of Tex & the Horseheads, and correspondingly the sound of cowpunk, is characterized by a fusion of classic-styled country-and-Western music and street-tough LA punk bands.[3]

Tex and the Horseheads released two records, a self-titled record in 1984 and Life's So Cool, produced in 1985 by John Doe, member of X and of the Flesh Eaters. A live album, titled Tot Ziens; Live in Holland, was released by Enigma Records in 1986.

Until disappearing from the Los Angeles music scene in the 1990s, Texacala performed with all-girl cowpunk group, the Screaming Sirens. In 1987 she formed Texorcist along w/ Dave Catching on Guitar, Billy Koepke on Bass & Louie Dufau on Drums, In the late 1980s, Texacala participated in an all women's performance troupe of LA scene-makers, The Ringling Sisters, whose members all fronted Los Angeles based bands. Members of the group included Pleasant Gehman (Screamin' Sirens), Iris Berry (Lame Flames), Debbie Dexter (Devil Squares), Debbie Patino (Raszebrae) and Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde).[7] Tex's role in The Ringling Sisters involved performing as a story teller and back-up singer.

    Feb 3 2023

Dr. Know is an American punk band, which began as a Nardcore band from Oxnard, California. They are regarded as founding fathers of the so-called "Nardcore" punk movement. The band was started by Kyle Toucher, Ismael Hernandez, and Robin Cartwright in early 1981, and after auditioning a few singers, local Silver Strand Beach surfer/skater Brandon Cruz got the job. Silver Strand Beach in Oxnard, California was the birthplace of Nardcore. The band recorded studio versions of several early songs with Cruz, however the early momentum was somewhat derailed by inner turmoil and it led to him leaving the group in 1983, leaving Toucher to take over vocals just as the band was starting recording of Plug In Jesus for Mystic Records. Several more albums followed, including the Burn EP.  This Island Earth, and Wreckage in Flesh, which were subsequently released on Death Records/Metal Blade Since that time Slayer covered the Toucher penned "Mr. Freeze" on their Undisputed Attitude album. The Dr. Know song "Piece of Meat," written by Toucher and Cruz, is used on the 1998 (season two) South Park episode entitled "Clubhouse."Dr. Know still managed another record, entitled Father, Son, and Holy Shit! and toured the West Coast with Stäläg 13 and Ill Repute.May 2010, Dr. Know with Hernandez and Cruz played a final gig. Stig Interviews Joe Keithley of DOA

    From Wikipedia:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Keithley
Joe Keithley was raised in Burnaby,[4] British Columbia, and attended Burnaby North Secondary. At age 11, he began playing drums after being inspired by a drummer in a jazz band at his sister's wedding.[5] [6] Keithley recalls his father's chagrin at Keithley "banging on a kit of his own", describing his father as "super square... completely right wing".[7] He would later take up the guitar and vocals, with some of his classmates becoming his bandmates.

In 2004, he published the autobiography I, Shithead: A Life in Punk.[10] He was inducted into the Canadian Independent Music Hall of Fame the same year.[4] He has also done solo work, releasing a mix of music and spoken word. In 1999, he released his first solo record, Beat Trash. The Vancouver Sun newspaper named Keithley one of British Columbia's most influential people of all time.[14]

He owns and operates his own record company, Sudden Death Records.[16] The recording company was started in 1978 as a DIY response to lack of interest from major labels. His motto is 'TALK-ACTION=ZERO.'[4]Politics[edit]
In 1996 and 2001, Keithley ran in the British Columbiaprovincial elections for the Green Party of British Columbia.[18][19] In 2001, he received the highest percentage of the vote next to party leader Adriane Carr. He ran for the Burnaby-Lougheedseat in the 2017 British Columbia provincial election.[20] On October 20, 2018, he was elected for Burnaby City Council in the 2018 municipal elections as a member of the Burnaby Green Party.[2]

Stig interviews Richie Ramone of The Ramones 6-30-2019

Richard Reinhardt (born August 11, 1957) is an American drummer best known by his stage name Richie Ramone, and for being the drummer for the punk band the Ramones from February 1983 until August 1987. As of 2022, he is one of the four surviving members of the band (the others being Marky Ramone, Elvis Ramone, and C.J. Ramone).

Reinhardt joined the Ramones in February 1983. He played on the Ramones albums Too Tough to Die, Animal Boy and Halfway to Sanity and appears on their compilation albums Greatest Hits, Loud, Fast Ramones: Their Toughest Hitsand Weird Tales of the Ramones, and on the Ramones live DVD It's Alive 1974-1996. He penned the Ramones' hit song "Somebody Put Something in My Drink" which is included on the album Ramones Mania

Richie was the only drummer to sing lead vocals on a Ramones song, including "(You) Can't Say Anything Nice" and the unreleased 1985 demo "Elevator Operator" written by Joey Ramone, which also featured Joey's brother Mickey Leigh on guitar and Dave U. Hall on bass, both from The Rattlers, as well a multitude of Ramones demos. Richie performed over 500 shows with the Ramones all over the world, including South America, where rabid Richie fans held up signs proclaiming "Richie" and "Drink", the latter referring to the song "Somebody put Something in my Drink" written by Richie.

Other work: In 2013, Richie Ramone signed with DC-Jam Records and released his first solo album, Entitled, on October 8, 2013.[23] Billboard debuted the LP's first single, "Criminal" and noted, "Back to holding the songwriting reins, Ramone's 12 freshest cuts aim to please fans of both rock and metal with its blend of barre chord-chugging simplicity and guitar hero virtuosity."[24][25] Richie released his second solo album Cellophane in 2016. In 2018, Ritchie's autobiography, I Know Better Now: My life before, during and after The Ramones, was published by Backbeat Books. The book was written with Peter Aaron. Richie continues to tour with his solo band and occasionally plays with former Ramones bassist C. J. Ramone.[26]

  • Interview with Steve Ignorant of the Crass from 2-26-2019
    Oct 18 2022

Stig Stench interviews Steve Ignorant of the Crass in 2-26-2019 The discuss current times, Trump and much more

    From Wikipedia.org:
Steve Ignorant was born in Stoke-on-Trent but grew up in Dagenham, East London. He later lived at Dial House, which since 1967 has been a self-sustaining anarchist-pacifist intentional community in Epping Forest, Essex; it was here where he met Penny Rimbaud, one of the founders of the Dial House project.[3]

Ignorant and Rimbaud went on to co-founded the anarcho-punk band Crass in 1977.[4][5][6][7] After Crass stopped performing in 1984, he has worked with other groups including Conflict, Schwartzeneggar, Stratford Mercenaries, and Current 93 as well as being an occasional solo performer.

On 24 and 25 November 2007 he performed Crass's entire The Feeding of the 5000 live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, backed by guest musicians.[10][11] Other members of Crass were not involved in these concerts. "I acknowledge and respect Steve's right to do this", Rimbaud said, "but I do regard it as a betrayal of the Crass ethos".[12] Ignorant had a different view; "I don't have to justify what I do. (...) Plus, most of the lyrics are still relevant today. And remember that three-letter word, 'fun'?"[12] He moved to the Norfolk coast in 2007 where he volunteers as a lifeboatman.[13]

While stranded in Sydney, Australia after a tour, Steve Ignorant, Carol Hodge and Pete Wilson came up with an idea for a new band, a more contemplative band backed by acoustic instruments. Thus Slice of Life was born. They performed for the first time at Wellingborough, UK on 25 October 2013. Lucas Martin joined the band on upright bass in 2015.
