What do you do when a story is simultaneously super fun and enjoyable but also you find yourself feeling like it didn’t quite live up to the hype and expectations that surround it?

I’ve greatly enjoyed my journey through the Dungeon Crawler Carl Universe but the deeper I get into the series, most recently via the newly released A Parade of Horribles, I’m realizing that as much fun as I have with these books, they never seem to live up to the hype that surrounds them for me.

At some point I realized I wasn’t that interested in reviewing books or breaking them down piece by piece. What I kept coming back to was the experience itself—what it feels like to sit with a story, to move through it, to notice the small things that stick or shift something internally.

So that’s what this became.

Most of what you’ll find here is written in motion.

Moments as I’m reading.
Things that catch my attention.
Questions that don’t really have answers yet.
A line, a feeling, a scene that won’t quite let go.

It’s not meant to be polished or definitive.

It’s closer to a record.
Something I can come back to.
