From humble beginnings at a come-and-try night in 2017 to becoming a decorated leader and representative player, Alex Hall has helped define the rise of women’s football in northern Tasmania. As the inaugural Premiership Captain for Scottsdale in the first Tasmanian Women’s League (North) season, Alex’s leadership and grit set the tone for the region’s women’s competition. Over nearly a decade she’s captained multiple sides, earned Best & Fairest and Team of the Year honours, coached junior girls to premierships, and has been a key person in the development and growth of women’s footy. In 2025 she added another chapter, earning AFL Masters All Australian honours after representing the Northern Territory. Today we’re diving into her story, the wins, the juggle, and her bold vision for the future of women’s footy in Tasmania.

Cameron Blight’s football story is as raw and authentic as it gets. From hitchhiking to Wynyard as a teenager for under-15 tryouts, to representing Tasmania, pulling on the Mariners, Carlton and Northern Bullant’s jumpers, and becoming a mainstay with the Tassie Devils, Blight’s career is a tale of grit, resilience and passion for the game. He played under some of the state’s great coaches, won multiple premierships with Clarence, and was recognised with William Leitch Medal honours and team of the year selections. Beyond his playing career, he’s guided teams from Smithton to Kingsborough, mentored the next generation through Hutchins School, and stamped his mark as both player and coach. This is a journey through the highs, the setbacks, and the deep love for Tasmanian footy.

  • E18- Tim Allen: The Coaching Genius Who Made Tassie Footy History

Tim Allen is a living legend of Tasmanian football. He started his career at Bendigo in country Victoria before being recruited to East Devonport as a ruckman-forward in the late 70s. From there, his impact on Tassie footy became the stuff of folklore. He coached Queenstown to back to back premierships in 1983/1984, Penguin to the 1985 premiership, and famously led East Devonport to the 1988 flag after an extraordinary last-quarter comeback that people still talk about today.

Known as a tough, uncompromising player and an inspirational coach, Tim’s sides always found that little bit extra under his leadership. He later became a much-loved Vice President and club legend at East Devonport, leaving behind a coaching and leadership record that stacks up against anyone in Tasmania. Simply put, Tim Allen’s name is etched into the Tassie footy story forever.
