    Jan 13 2023

Have you started down a traditional career path and wondered about your impact and level of satisfaction? You need to hear this episode!

Welcome, Grace Belew, a careworker, breathwork facilitator, Mindful Practice teacher and mental health advocate. Early in her career, she served clients living in shelter housing for women experiencing intimate partner violence. She began to make changes and build practices based on her client's identities, experiences and specific needs. She found this created a better space for healing work and thus began a change in the course of her career.

Grace has her B.A. in Human Development from Michigan State University and an MSW, focusing on Clinical Mental Health from the University of Maryland. She currently serves the public school system and county government in the D.C. area consulting on mental health programming and teaching weekly meditation and breathwork classes. • 15. Finding where to belong in this world with Amina Mohamed
    Nov 16 2022

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and exclaimed 'I know what I want to do with my life'? Well, that's exactly what happened to Amina. And if you're thinking that would be nice and I wish it happened to me in my 20s so then I'd be set, that's not how it happened to Amina either. It happened after living in Canada for 50 years, coming here as a refugee, after being married for 20 years, after adopting a child, after going through periods of depression, after a successful 15-year career in the television and film industry. So there's still time. Listen to her story and how she came to create her business, Cameras for Girls, in 2018 empowering women in Uganda.

Amina Mohamed has always had a passion for photography. She spent fifteen years exploring this passion while working in film and television as a producer and production manager on numerous movies and documentaries. In 2018, she started a for-profit travel business, Triple F Photo Tours and an initiative called Cameras For Girls, which was granted charity status in 2021. Through Cameras For Girls, her mission is to teach photography and business skills to marginalized females across Africa who endeavour to become journalists. She gives them a camera to keep and a 4-phase program that empowers them to find paid work and escape poverty. She has taught 32 young women via an in-person workshop in Uganda and 10 women online in South Africa, and 55% now have full-time jobs. Amina most recently returned to Uganda this past June 2022 to resume the in-person workshop for CFG. Through both the for-profit and non-profit ventures, Amina has been featured in the press across Canada and the US.
