About this listen

Welcome to QuoVadis – The Common Ground We are sports clubs from four european countries – Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Norway – and we have spent the past five years working closely together. What unites us is being a role model when it comes to social inclusion and volunteering, like a Europe-wide study pointed out. Co-funded by the European Union, we didn't only want to just be researched and printed next to; we wanted to stand next to, get to know and learn from each other. From today on, we share our experiences, screw-up stories, learnings, impact factors, and hidden revenues with you. And we are jointly keeping an eye on where the journey for youth work and sports in Europe is heading - Quo Vadis youth work and sports in Europe?ISB, Idealista, Furuset if, Sportunion Tirol, TSG Bergedorf, Békessy Béla VK Economics Management Management & Leadership

This episode of the podcast ‘The Common Ground’ was recorded by TSG Bergedorf, one of Hamburg's largest sports clubs with around 10,500 members. The hosts of this episode are Janne Ludwig, head of the sports and youth department at TSG, and her guest Tobias, deputy chairman and board member responsible for daycare centres and school partnerships.

The episode focuses on how and why sports clubs such as TSG Bergedorf enter into partnerships with schools.

The main topics are how these school partnerships work, what they mean for children, families, schools and the club, and what challenges and opportunities they bring. Tobias provides insights into the organisation, the educational and sporting work and the advantages for the club's departments – in particular the opportunity to create full-time coaching positions through partnerships.

The episode also discusses the values that are conveyed beyond sport, as well as the multi-professional teams that work at the locations. The positive influence of TSG on social interaction and the promotion of physical activity in everyday school life is highlighted.

The episode is rounded off with an outlook on financing, the challenges of staffing and Tobias' wish for the future of school partnerships.

The entire project and the podcast were co-financed by the European Union as part of the Erasmus Plus funding programme. If you have any questions or suggestions for improvement, please contact us at: E-Mail: info@isb-online.org Tel: +49 (0) 9721 675 4444 Website: http://www.isb-online.org

In this episode, we take an in-depth look at sustainability in sports clubs, with a particular focus on the Tyrol region. Christian and Paul discuss how sports clubs in Austria and across Europe can become more sustainable. The focus is on practical examples: How can sustainability be put into practice locally? What happens to worn-out tennis balls, for example? And what role do initiatives such as ‘Klimafitte Sportstätte’ (climate-friendly sports facilities) or projects to promote low-threshold access to sport play?

We learn how sport has a broad impact, not only in terms of competition, but above all in terms of focusing on health and well-being for all. It's about partnerships with schools, free offers, qualified youth coaches and the shift towards greater social inclusion and sustainable club growth. Of course, we also discuss the challenges: bureaucratic hurdles, recruiting young talent and the importance of cooperation between clubs.
