This show is a little different from usual as we’re coming to you directly from Fotografiska Berlin’s Ballroom in Berlin, where we hosted an artist interview with Juliana Huxtable, hosted by artist Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju as part of the Fotografiska Berlin opening week program. Juliana Huxtable, a Texas-born artist currently based in New York and Berlin, is renowned for her thought-provoking pieces of art that take form in painting, photography, poetry, and video. Her works deal with issues related to identity, futurity, and politics. In this recording, Juliana Huxtable discusses ‘–USSYPHILIA’, her most extensive European solo exhibition, and how her vision for transcending identity and gender boundaries reaches far beyond the human sphere. Juliana and Monilola also touch upon Juliana’s fascination with semantics, the joy of collaborating with friends, and her band Tongue In The Mind’s debut single ‘Pretty Canary’ and music video, which is currently on show at Fotografiska Berlin until 10th January 2024. This podcast is a condensed version of the original conversation, which you can find on Fotografiska Berlin’s YouTube channel for the complete experience.
