In this powerful episode of The Dad’s Group Chat Podcast, I sat down with Walessa & Ariel for a real, unfiltered conversation about marriage, upbringing, parenting, and building the kind of household they didn’t always see growing up.

They open up about how they met, when they knew it was more than just dating, and what marriage truly looks like beyond the highlight reel. From unlearning habits shaped by their childhood to intentionally breaking generational patterns, this episode dives deep into becoming better partners and better parents.

The conversation also explores how having children shifts a marriage — the emotional weight, the growing pains, and the importance of showing up for your significant other during challenging seasons. Walessa & Ariel speak honestly about the challenges that come after having a baby — the emotional changes, identity shifts, exhaustion, and the pressure both partners can feel while trying to stay connected.

They discuss what it really looks like to support one another during those difficult months, how it impacted them in ways that often go unspoken, and what they wish more couples understood before entering that phase of life.

    This episode is about growth.
    It’s about healing.
It’s about raising our kids with the love, presence, and partnership we may not have always witnessed ourselves.

If you’re married, planning to be, navigating parenthood, or trying to break cycles for your family — this conversation is for you.

  • We Can’t Blame the Kids Forever: Parents, This Is On Us! | Natalie
    Jan 24 2026

    Send us a text

In this episode of The Dad’s Group Chat Podcast, Natalie & I have an honest and necessary conversation about parental accountability—and what it really means to raise kids in today’s world.

We talk about how our children’s behavior doesn’t exist in a vacuum. As parents, we have to look inward and ask ourselves the hard questions:
How are we showing up? What are we modeling? And where do we need to take responsibility instead of making excuses?

Drawing from firsthand experience working in schools located in low-income communities, we discuss the realities many families face—kids coming to school hungry, distracted, and emotionally overwhelmed. How can children focus on learning when basic needs aren’t being met? And how does that responsibility extend beyond schools and back into the home?

We also dive deep into parental exhaustion—acknowledging that burnout is real, even in two-parent households, and the pressure only multiplies for single parents. Parenting while depleted is hard, but it’s still our responsibility to remain intentional, patient, and accountable.

    This episode explores:
    - Holding ourselves accountable for our kids’ behavior
    - Parenting through consequences, not fear
    - The difference between discipline and punishment
    - How fear-based tactics from previous generations “worked,” but caused lasting damage
    - Breaking generational cycles while still raising respectful, accountable kids
    - Navigating parenting while tired, stressed, and stretched thin

This isn’t about blaming parents—it’s about being honest, having real conversations, and doing better for the next generation.

If you’re a parent, educator, or someone invested in the future of our kids, this conversation matters.
