About this listen

Welcome to The Daily Ascent. I'm Molly Carmel — and this is the podcast I always wished existed: a bite-sized, on-the-ground spiritual note that can shift your thinking and your outlook on life. Because sometimes, that's all it takes — a small shift in what we choose to believe — to make the day a little better, and to make us a little more awake, alive… and ascending. Each weekday, we climb together — rising above the noise, finding the flow, and getting grounded in what really matters so you can live your day with more meaning, connection, and ease.2025 Hygiene & Healthy Living Psychology Psychology & Mental Health Self-Help Success

  • Ep. 67 | When Compassion Becomes Too Costly
    Feb 3 2026

In today's episode, I'm talking about something that happened with one of my closest friends - someone with the biggest heart who was taking on her ex-partner's health concerns and fears - and why I asked her, "Of course you can handle this. But do you need to?"

I share the story of a friend who was deeply hurt by someone, did the healing work, brought them back into her life, and then found herself carrying their struggles again - and why sometimes the most loving thing you can do is release the need to carry someone else's pain.

We'll explore why your heart doesn't always know the difference between caring and being responsible, why compassion doesn't mean taking on everyone's suffering as your own, and why self-preservation sometimes needs to override taking care of another person.

Question to carry into your day:
What are you carrying that isn't yours to carry - and what would it look like to release it and trust that the other person can handle their own journey?

  • Ep. 66 | There's No Such Thing as an Unanswered Prayer
    Feb 2 2026

In today's episode, I'm talking about what happened when I asked for help with something that felt almost too small to share - my dog Danny struggling with Northeast snow - and why there's no such thing as an unanswered prayer, even when we don't love the answer.

I share the story of feeling ashamed to share about Danny at a meeting, throwing up a prayer anyway, and what happened when someone showed up with exactly what I needed - and why you don't need to believe in prayer for it to work.

We'll explore why asking is an act of courage, why your honest truth is a prayer, and why the Universe moves to meet us when we're willing to bring our whole truth to the altar.

Question to carry into your day:
What are you afraid to ask for help with - and what would it look like to honor that it's genuinely on your heart and throw up a prayer anyway?

  • Ep. 65 | The Courage It Takes to Reconcile
    Jan 30 2026

In today's episode, I'm talking about a phone call I received from someone I used to guide spiritually - someone who reached out after years to make amends. We explore why reconciliation isn't about who was right or wrong, but about who's willing to reach out first.

I share what happened when one of the women I guided in my time in NC called to repair our relationship, and the quote that shifted everything: "It doesn't matter who is wrong and who is right. It matters who reconciles."

We'll discuss why reconciliation is an act of profound courage, why reaching out first is actually a sign of strength, and why choosing connection over being right might be exactly what our fractured world needs right now.

Question to carry into your day:
What relationship is sitting heavy on your heart - and are you brave enough to be the one who reaches out first?
