  • Uber Hack, Facebook Outage, and more! | Talking Tech with Matt
    Sep 21 2022
What a week to be alive! Uber and Rockstar got hacked, with major screenshots and leaks now open to the general public! In today’s episode of The Director Shawty Show, we go in-depth on cybersecurity, IT, and technology, including some of the craziest of incidents– like when Facebook accidentally erased itself from the internet! [HAPPENING NOW]: Uber and Rockstar: HACKED! The hack targeted Uber’s internal systems and staff. According to them, their applications remain online (with the exemption of some internal systems) and no personal data was leaked. Major ridesharing company, Uber, and game developer, Rockstar Games, were both hacked by teenagers this week! With the intruder gaining access to Uber’s internal, budgeting, cloud, and Google Workspace systems, screenshots of their internal (and even questionable practices, such as how they named their budgeting portal “Avengers”) went public as they bragged about their success online. Rockstar Games had secret in-development GTA 6 assets leaked to the world. That’s all I have to say about the matter. It was huge! The Facebook October 2021 Outage, Revisited About one year ago, Facebook accidentally erased its BGP records, causing the entire company to go offline. Similarly, Roblox also suffered a three-day long outage due to pushing out an update– both outages are revisited in this episode. Learn about what happened and its true impacts on both the world and themselves! Matt's Strange Addiction Today, we cover Matt’s strange addiction of storing “backups upon backups”. With using 7TB of storage on a shared drive, while having a 10TB personal NAS, we visit his odd addiction to saving random files. ISPs: How they work, and why Viram's ISP sucks Ever wondered how an ISP gets internet connected to your home? Let’s talk about how they work, how you can start one, Xfinity’s backbone, and why Viram’s ISP is so awful that it resulted in his first episode of TDSS being put as a bonus because of how many times he disconnected. And so much more! Episode 6 is especially jam-packed with cybersecurity action! If you’ve ever taken an interest in technology, whether it’s crazy events or specific IT and cybersecurity topics, this episode is for you! The question is where can you find one? The mission for High Class School continues! See where we're at with hunting down a school and what comes next on this conquest of cinema.  The Man in the Server Room When you have a friend who works with the school's IT team, it's safe to say anything can happen. Our friend, Matt, tracked me around the school through the District's IT system. We also tell stories from our IT classes, including the one time we almost got in trouble.  The Lunch Food Sucks Ever heard of a chicken cheeseburger? Me neither, and neither did they, but I guess that's what I was served. What do you do when you are asked to introduce yourself... ...but everything cool about you is stuff you don't want to share? • Hey son, how was school today?
    Aug 22 2022

School has begun and the chaos has resumed. Today on The Director Shawty Show, Viram and I are going in-depth on our experiences in our final year of high school!

    The Classroom Phone Ban

To ban... or not to ban...

One of our teachers has elected to have all students turn over their phones in order to prevent distractions in class. While it's understandable, and phones can indeed result in poorer grades and attention, should it actually be in the teacher's power to suspend them, or should the responsibility ultimately fall on the student?

    The Parking Chaos

"I'm not gonna pay $190 just to be rear-ended by a moron"

At our high school, the main parking lot is the most hazardous driving storm you can navigate through. From people begging just to leave to people and cars getting hit by other cars, you can listen to their stories in this episode.

    The Google Drive Ban

First, 5GB quotas... and now this?!

It looks like the school did an oopsie and accidentally blocked a student from accessing Google Drive! But... how does this mistake happen at such a scale? With over 14,000 students, what made this specific one vulnerable to such a mistake?

And of course, the first day

Yeah, so, it's the first day of the year! But not just any year, it's senior year! Join us in our stories for our first day and all the fun things we've experienced on today's episode of The Director Shawty Show, now available on Spotify!

  • The time we got sued for nothing...
    Aug 12 2022

Shawty and Supreme meet together and discuss the time they almost got SUED while working on what was the WORST PRODUCTION EVER to work on, and the insane hoops we went through that ultimately lead to the production's demise.

"I was talking to Hunter and I was like "alright, get me locations, then we'll talk" because we need to actually know where we're actually going to shoot. If we're going to shoot a show, we can't just shoot it in a basement with like a green screen that I'm gonna have, you know? So he's like "okay I'll do it". I go on vacation, I get a text message not even a day in-- not even a full 24 hours in-- and it reads "hey I know you're on vacation but I just want to tell you that I plan to sue you, Genelle and the company unless I'm giving back my intellectual property. I know you and the company probably don't want this but I would like my property back" -- Colin Cabana

"How are you supposed to write 50 pages in a week? Not to mention that both me and Colin were in school" -- Genelle Nikole

"I was burnt to a crisp because I'm writing essays-- like fictional short stories-- for my major and then after that going to write a whole entire script with a high schooler" -- Genelle Nikole

"I had last year when I was in my apartment, I had this neighbor, he would text me every time he was having a party and I had never had a conversation with him in life in real life. I had just had him on Snapchat because he was like, my neighbor, you know? Um and he lived down the hall and every time he threw a party, he texted me like, have a party tonight if you want to come. And I really appreciate the fact that he was always trying to include me. But his party themes were always either Fortnite or Minions before." -- Genelle Nikole

"How do you even throw a Fortnite party" -- Colin Cabana
