  • Emotional Eating vs Emotional Avoidance: The Food Noise Conversation No One Is Having
    Apr 30 2026

Think about this for a second.

What if your food noise has less to do with hunger or cravings, and more to do with the emotions you’re avoiding?

In this episode, I break down a perspective that doesn’t get talked about enough. Instead of using food to cope with emotions, what if you’re using the thoughts about food as a distraction from what you’re actually feeling?

    Because there’s a difference.

Emotional eating is acting on the feeling.

Emotional avoidance is staying mentally busy so you don’t have to feel it.

That can look like constantly thinking about your next meal, planning food, scrolling recipes, or watching food content. On the surface, it seems harmless. But underneath, it can be a way to avoid sitting with stress, discomfort, or emotions you haven’t processed yet.

In this episode, I talk about:

The difference between emotional eating and emotional avoidance

How food noise can become a mental distraction pattern

Why willpower isn’t the solution if avoidance is the root issue

The importance of building emotional awareness before trying to change behavior

How working with a therapist can help you untangle what’s really going on

This isn’t about eliminating food noise overnight.

It’s about understanding what it might be trying to protect you from.

Because once you start addressing what’s underneath, everything else becomes a lot more manageable.

  • How to Handle Trigger Foods Without Losing Control
    Apr 23 2026

In this episode, I’m breaking down how to handle trigger foods without losing control, and why avoiding them is actually making things harder.

Most people think the solution is to remove these foods completely, but that usually leads to stronger cravings, more guilt, and cycles of overeating. What I’ve found, both personally and through coaching, is that control comes from learning how to include these foods, not eliminate them.

I walk through how to build your eating plan around your preferences, how to identify and work through foods that feel emotionally charged, and why eating those foods more consistently can actually reduce their pull over time.

We also talk about the role of the food industry, how guilt and shame get reinforced, and why understanding the “rules of the game” helps you stop blaming yourself and start taking ownership.

This is about shifting your relationship with food, building awareness, and getting to a place where you can take it or leave it, instead of feeling like you have no control at all.

  • How “Clean Eating” Creates Food Noise (And What To Do Instead)
    Apr 16 2026

In this episode, I break down how “clean eating” and rigid food rules can actually increase food noise instead of reducing it.

At first, it feels like control. It feels like clarity. You finally know what to eat and what not to eat. But over time, that structure starts to take over. You begin thinking about every bite, labeling foods as good or bad, and even tying your identity to those choices.

    That’s where the noise starts.

I talk about how the fitness and weight loss industry has created confusion around food, why that leads to program hopping, and how this cycle keeps repeating for years, sometimes decades.

More importantly, I walk you through a different approach. One that is built around your preferences, removes guilt, and helps you create an eating plan that actually fits your life.

This is how you start to quiet the noise.

    Key Takeaways

    • Why “clean eating” feels good at first but becomes overwhelming

    • How food labels turn into self-judgment

    • The real reason you keep starting over with diets

    • Why your preferences matter more than any plan

    • How to reduce food noise without restriction
