About this listen

Ever since I could remember there was music in my life or rattling around in my head. As I was born in 1966 I was too young to really appreciate the great musical styles of the times, but I was brought up on the 70’s music of 10cc, Bowie, Roxy Music etc. so all was not lost. I have been passionate about early Garage/Psych since my teenage years but I discovered very quickly that the more I was to delve into the past musically the more pathways and other avenues of musical styles opened up to me leading into a fascinating world of Blues, R ’n’ B, Rock, Soul, Ska, Folk, Pop etc.

After many happy years of collecting vast quantities of music from the era 1960 to about 1978, I started to wonder if there was anyone else out there in the big wide world who shared the same passion as I did. This in turn led me to seek out possible venues playing the kind of music I adored. But despite living just outside of Birmingham there was nothing happening locally. I found myself travelling to London to get my ‘fix’. As this was a logistical nightmare I started to look into a possible cheaper radio ‘fix’... surely there must be something happening? Actually I found much to my disappointment, very little or many dead links of now defunct shows. Well I decided I then only had one choice, to put on the sort of radio show that I would love to tune into myself and hopefully so would others.

Well here we are with the finished product. The Good Man’s Radio Show.

I hope you find yourself awfully glad that you stopped by my little bubble of joy and I am able to spread at least a little of the joy I feel myself when I listen to my music. If I can spread the word of all these (sometimes) forgotten gems and start a whole new generation of people looking to explore the possibility that music doesn’t have to be dull and lazy, which I tend to feel an awful lot is now sadly, then so much the better. Thanks for tuning in folks, enjoy the trip. .LemmyX
