  • The Addiction to Approval: Why Your Opinion is the Only One That Matters
    Dec 24 2025

Here is a podcast description optimized for Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and social sharing. It is written in your persona: the 54-year-old recovering performer who is done with the "Good Girl" act.

The Addiction to Approval: Why Your Opinion is the Only One That Matters

    Episode Description

Are you still looking for the "Gold Star"?

For fifty-four years, I lived my life like a performance. I walked into every room—boardrooms, family gatherings, dinner parties—subconsciously scanning for approval. I was trained to be the "Good Girl." I thought that if you were happy with me, then I was safe.

But living for external validation is an exhausting addiction. It’s a drug that wears off in five minutes, leaving you desperate for the next hit.

In this episode, I’m getting honest about the "approval trap." I’m talking about the moment I realized that I could have a standing ovation from the world, but if I didn't like the woman in the mirror, none of it mattered.

    We discuss:

    • The Empty Mirror: Why compliments feel empty when you don't respect yourself.
    • Survival Mode: Why self-approval isn't just "self-care"—it is critical for your emotional survival.
    • The Committee: How to fire the judges in your head (parents, bosses, society) and hire yourself as the only verdict that counts.
    • The Audit: A simple question to ask yourself to break the habit of people-pleasing.

If you are tired of dancing on a string for other people, this episode is for you. It’s time to stop waiting for applause and start liking yourself.

  • The Exhaustion of Performing: Finding My Way Back to Me
    Dec 21 2025

How much of your life have you spent playing a character?

I am 54 years old. And when I look back at the last five decades, I have to confront a hard truth: For most of that time, I wasn't really there. I was performing.

I was the "Good Girl." I was the chameleon. I was whoever the room needed me to be—the perfect employee, the supportive partner, the rock for everyone else. I thought this was love. I thought this was what it meant to be a good person.

But the problem with performing is that the show never ends. And eventually, the energy runs out.

In this deeply personal episode, I open up about the exhaustion of living a life designed by other people’s expectations. I talk about the moment the mask became too heavy to carry, and the terrifying, beautiful process of meeting myself for the first time at 54.

    We discuss:

    • The Chameleon Effect: How we learn to shape-shift to stay safe and "convenient" for others.
    • The Crash: What happens when your body and soul simply refuse to keep acting.
    • The Un-Learning: Why finding yourself isn't about becoming someone new—it’s about stripping away everything that isn't you.
    • The First Step: How to sit in the silence and finally hear your own voice.

If you feel like you are wearing a costume in your own life, this episode is your permission slip to take it off.
