About this listen
We are thrilled to offer the latest episode of The Confident Smile Podcast. In this episode, we chat with Dr. Jeffrey Hoos. Dr. Hood is owner of Brush & Floss dental center in Stratford Ct. Dr. Hoos is a world renowned dental practitioner. He has invented many successful techniques to provide the best dental experience possible. His philosophy is to provide the highest quality dentistry in a friendly atmosphere. A vital part of this is really taking the time to get to know you and understand your needs. His goal is “teeth for a lifetime” and he goes to great lengths to preserve a person’s natural teeth as long as possible.
In this interview, Dr. Hoos delves into the topic of our smile and how to keep teeth for a lifetime. It is so important to teach people how to brush properly, floss properly and use the right toothpaste and oral rinses so they can maintain their teeth for life.
Dr. Hoos recommends going to the dentist twice a year but it really depends not the patient. Some need to go more often and it usually depends on their at home care.
Using the right toothbrush you will reduce the plaque on their teeth. Then using the right oral rinse you can reduce the inflammation and keep the gums healthy.
As patients hit their late 50’s they may develop some issues as gum recession, spaces, inflammation etc. They need to be brushing properly at the gum line to reduce plaque bacteria. Also the use of an electric toothbrush is very important for older people or people who cannot floss well between the teeth.
You have to be cognizant of what is going on in your mouth. If you see bleeding gum while brushing that means something is happening and the tissue is not strong enough of the mechanics of cleaning your teeth. You should go see your dentist because something is going on and needs a professional.
