THE MIKE GORMLEY SHOW Featuring Stewart Copeland Stewart Copeland is a musician and composer, and is known as the drummer and a founding member of the British rock band The Police. Beyond his work with The Police, he has also composed scores for films like Rumble Fish and Wall Street, television shows like The Equalizer, and video games, including the Spyro the Dragon series. He has also explored classical music, composing for ballet, opera, and orchestra. Stewart's musical journey began in Alexandria, Virginia, but he spent much of his childhood in Beirut, Lebanon, where his father, a CIA officer, was stationed. He discovered his passion for drumming early on, initially inspired by his older brother and later mentored by a jazz drummer. In 1977, Copeland formed The Police with Sting and Andy Summers, achieving international fame and selling over 60 million records. The band's unique blend of rock, reggae, and punk influences made them a defining force in the 1980s. After The Police disbanded, Copeland pursued a diverse career, venturing into film scoring, video game music, and classical compositions. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Police in 2003.
