The excellence I see in communities are often unseen, uncelebrated, and undervalued. People empowering excellence NOT for recognition, BUT because it matters. This deserves a wider audience and that is why I am starting a podcast. → To create a platform for voices that are too often unheard. → To share the stories behind the work. → To ensure communities know the extraordinary efforts being made on their behalf. → And a reminder that public health progress happens because of people, not systems. Because when relationships come first, the work doesn’t just last longer, it MATTERS!Care Pathway Hygiene & Healthy Living

    The People’s HealthCast | Episode #003

From Need to Action: A Founder's Journey in

    Community-Led Change

A conversation that truly reminded me why listening matters.

The latest episode of The People’s HealthCast is now live featuring the incredible Dolly Children Foundation founder, Adedolapo Osuntuyi.

What started as listening to children’s experiences around safety, dignity, and education has grown into a movement creating real impact through community-led action and educational empowerment.

One story from this conversation stayed with me deeply:

Children who simply said… “All we want is a school fence.”

This revealed so much about safety, environment, wellbeing, and what it truly means to create conditions where children can learn and thrive.

    In this episode, we explore:

🔹 The story behind Dolly Children Foundation

🔹 Why education sits at the centre of the foundation’s mission

🔹 Listening to children as knowledge holders

    🔹 Community-led solutions versus assumption-led interventions

🔹 Environment and safety as determinants of health

🔹 Leadership, sustainability, and building lasting impact

This is more than a conversation about education. It’s a conversation about dignity, voice, and what happens when communities are truly heard.

Community Power: Upskilling Communities for Health, Opportunity, and Social Change

In this episode, I’m joined by Yolande Ghola, Founder of Salford Community Upskilling CIC, to explore how community-led initiatives are creating real pathways to opportunity, confidence, and wellbeing.

This episode is not just about listening—it’s about engagement and action.

Organisations like Salford Community Upskilling CIC demonstrate what is possible when communities are supported, trusted, and invested in. But this work cannot happen in isolation.

    We discuss:

    * Why skills development is a public health issue

    * The power of community-led change

    * How grassroots organisations are addressing inequality in practical ways

This episode is also a call to action.

    We need stronger:

    Collaboration & partnerships
Sponsorship & investment in communities
Volunteering to support grassroots impact

Because meaningful change happens when we work together

  • Lupus Awareness and Advocacy in Nigeria and Beyond
    Feb 14 2026

    Episode 001 with Safinat Emengo

Founder of Mablevi Lupus Foundation and official partner for Summit for Lupus

In this powerful opening episode of The People’s HealthCast, I sit down with Safinat Emengo, advocate, founder, and voice for those living with Lupus. Safinat is the Founder of the Mablevi Lupus Foundation, a patient-led organisation dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and amplifying the lived experiences of people affected by Lupus.

Diagnosed with Lupus herself, Safinat turned personal adversity into purposeful advocacy. Through community-building, storytelling, and education, she has created safe spaces for people navigating autoimmune conditions — particularly within underrepresented communities.

In this episode, Safinat shares the realities of living with Lupus beyond the clinical definition, the invisible symptoms, delayed diagnoses, emotional toll, and the power of finding community. She also introduces the vision behind a developing project, led by Mr Tobi Yusuff the Summit for Lupus, a growing campaign bringing together patients, clinicians, researchers, and advocates to drive awareness and systemic change.

This conversation is honest, reflective, and deeply human. It reminds us that health systems perform best when lived experience is at the foundation.

    What I Discuss with Safinat

    * Safinat’s journey from Lupus diagnosis to founding the Mablevi Lupus Foundation.

    * The hidden realities of living with an invisible autoimmune condition.

    * Why awareness must go beyond campaigns and translate into action

    * The importance of community, storytelling, and safe spaces for people with chronic illness.

    * The vision behind Summit for Lupus and how collaborative spaces can drive research, policy influence, and patient empowerment.

    * What health professionals need to understand about listening differently to those with lived experience.
