We got to hear all his cool stories about how him and his brother (Adam from Riff Valley Tacos) help kick start the hardcore scene in South Texas. It honestly was so cool to talk to Dan and hear about all the things he did to help a hardcore scene thrive in a place that people would see as a hard place to have a scene. In this episode, we sit down with Rich Thurston to talk through his extensive history in hardcore. Rich has been doing this literally our whole lives when he started with Timescape Zero in 1991. Next up was vegan straight edge band, Culture, and took him across the US and international. With 35 years of music, the list is long and includes stints with notable acts like Blood Has Been Shed and Terror.

On this episode we talk about the metalcore band August Burns Red. We talk about how amazing their first three albums but how everything after that just felt repetitive. We talk about what their influences could have been and also how consistent they have been through the years. Albums like Messengers and Thrill Seeker were extremely important to both of us. They were definitely a gateway band for us and for many others to get in to Hardcore music. We are huge fans of them and it was fun to discuss their discography.

This week we’re talking about band reunions — the good, the bad, and the ones that probably shouldn’t have happened.

With Sleeping Giant announcing two shows in June to celebrate 20 years as a band, it got us thinking about when reunions actually make sense and when they just feel off. We get into bands that came back and did it right, bands that kind of missed the mark, and a few we’d still love to see give it another shot.

We also talk about anniversary album tours — are they special, or are they starting to feel overdone?
