About this listen

In 1918, English composer Gustav Holst released his seven movement suite, The Planets. Each movement was named for a planet in our solar system, and, rather than drawing inspiration from the astronomical aspects of each planet, Holst took inspiration from ancient astrology. More than 100 years later, The Planets remains an exciting and influential masterpiece. In this episode, we discuss the first 4 movements and how they compare to modern astrological interpretations.
