  • I Asked Celebrities About Their Brand on the Red Carpet Here's What Every Agent Needs to Hear | The Long Game Podcast
    Jun 17 2026

What do Gene Simmons, Katie Cassidy, Brandon Routh, and Lou Diamond Phillips have in common with your insurance career?

    More than you'd think.

This spring, I had the chance to hit two Dallas film festivals as credentialed press, the Dallas International Film Festival and the USA Film Festival and walked away with something way more valuable than autographs. I got a masterclass in personal branding from some of the most recognizable names in entertainment.

In this episode, let me tell you what I saw on those red carpets and why it matters for every agent trying to figure out why clients choose them over the agent down the street selling the exact same policy for the exact same price.

Here's some of what I got:

    • Gene Simmons — 50 years of never breaking character, a $400 million brand built on face paint, and what it looks like to be so clear on who you are that every single thing you do reinforces it
    • Katie Cassidy — a woman who built her own career from scratch in the shadow of a famous father who cut her out of his will, and what "that's my brand, whether you like it or not" actually sounds like in practice
    • Brandon Routh — Hollywood gave him Superman, then took it back. What happens when the brand someone else put on you disappears, and what you'd better have left when it does
    • Lou Diamond Phillips — 40 years of never not working, and the two-sentence career philosophy that explains exactly why: give up the sure thing and take the shot. Don't get complacent. Keep hitting the bricks.

Also let me give you two dead-simple exercises to figure out what your actual personal brand is right now. No buzzwords. No logo. Just the real answer to why people buy from you.

Because once you're in the room, they're not choosing your carrier. They're choosing you.

  • Get Up or Give Up: The Mindset That Saved Jay Choquette's Life (And Can Save Your Business) | Long Game Insurance
    Apr 21 2026

Your worst day at the office probably didn't involve dragging yourself 50 feet up a rock ravine with shattered legs.

    Jay Choquette's did.

In this episode of The Long Game Insurance Podcast, Susana Gibb sits down with Jay, jiu-jitsu world champion, founder of the nonprofit AmptUp, and head of X8 Marketing, to talk about the motorcycle accident that almost killed him, the stranger who saved his life, and the lesson he learned face down in a ravine that changed everything.

Get up. Or give up. Everything in between is just whining.

But this episode isn't just a survival story. It's a masterclass in what insurance agents are doing wrong when it comes to attracting clients, building their brand, and competing in a crowded market.

    Jay breaks down:

    • Why you need to stop hunting clients and start farming them and how to build 25 referral partners who send business on autopilot
    • The biggest branding mistake agents make (hint: you're promoting your carrier, not yourself)
    • Why spending money on generic SEO is just lighting cash on fire and the free Google trick that actually works at the local level
    • How genuine communication, not fancy marketing, is what keeps clients loyal for life
    • Why ego is not your amigo, and what happens when you stop pretending

Whether you're grinding through a slow month, questioning if this industry is worth it, or just need someone to remind you what real resilience looks like, this one's for you.

  • Building A Strong Personal Brand As An Insurance Agent With Michelle Knight | Long Game Insurance
    Apr 8 2026

Use your stories to create strong branding as an insurance agent. If you've ever thought "nobody wants to hear from me" or "insurance just isn't that interesting" this episode is for you.

I sit down with Michelle Knight, brand strategist and founder of BrandMerry, who has helped over 1,000 entrepreneurs stop hiding behind their business card and start building brands people actually connect with.

Here's the truth: you're not boring. You just haven't learned how to tell your story yet.

Michelle breaks down exactly why most insurance agents struggle to show up consistently online and shares her 5S storytelling framework (Spark, Setup, Strain, Shift, Significance) that makes content creation feel way less overwhelming and way more natural.

    In this episode you'll learn:

    • Why personal branding isn't just for coaches and influencers, it's a non-negotiable for agents too
    • How to tell client stories that stop the scroll without oversharing your personal life
    • The difference between your brand story and your micro content (and why mixing them up is killing your consistency)
    • How to take ONE story and turn it into six different posts
    • The mindset shift that makes 200 views feel like a full room

Whether you're brand new to social media or you've been posting and getting crickets, Michelle gives you a clear, practical starting point.
