    When you have a strong relationship with your adult child, it's easier to communicate and maintain boundaries: Rule #1 is to embrace your child's spouse and respect their position in your child's life. This will help to reduce tension and create a stronger relationship. As GenXers, we were raised quite differently from our boomer parents which impacts our relationships with our adult children. We need to make sure that we communicate freely with our children so that they understand us and we can continue to have a strong relationship.
