Answer to the question at the end of the episode: Minors can be sentenced to life in prison, but they cannot get the death penalty. However, in Ohio they just enacted a law in 2021 to abolish life without parole for minors, in NON-homicide cases. In this particular case, he could have been sentenced to life, but not to death because of his age.
