    Share your TTC story ✨

What happens when two funny, brutally honest humans decide to document their IVF journey in real time?

    You get this episode.

Today I’m joined by Lauren and David Finn, the duo behind The Baby Making Business, and this conversation is equal parts hilarious, heartbreaking, raw and refreshing. We chat about what infertility and IVF actually look like behind the glossy clinic brochures and the weirdly chirpy “stay positive” energy floating around this space.

We get into the real stuff here. The emotional chaos. The pressure on relationships. The grief. The waiting. The money. The miscarriages. The uncertainty. And the bizarre realities of sperm sample rooms, sad hospital teddy bears, and why dark humour can sometimes be the only thing keeping you from losing it.

Lauren and David share their fertility journey with so much openness, vulnerability and wit. Conversations like this remind you that you are not the only one crying in a clinic car park, rage-Googling uterine lining thickness at midnight, or trying to hold hope and heartbreak in the same body.

In this episode we chat about:

    • how The Baby Making Business came to life
    • what it’s really like navigating infertility and IVF as a couple
    • the emotional, physical and financial toll of treatment
    • why humour has become one of their biggest coping tools
    • how IVF impacts relationships, work, friendships and everyday life
    • the importance of advocating for yourself inside the fertility system
    • what actually feels supportive from friends and family (and what really doesn’t)
    • the emotional whiplash of hope, grief, waiting and uncertainty
    • what they wish they’d known earlier in their journey

This episode is for anyone who is in it right now. Trying. Waiting. Injecting. Hoping. Grieving. Advocating. Holding it together by a thread and a dark joke.

Lauren and David bring so much heart to this conversation, along with the kind of humour that makes the unbearable feel a little more survivable.

Think infertility chat with a side of emotional support sarcasm.

And then, if you finally see those two pink lines… surprise. The anxiety doesn’t magically evaporate.

In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Andrea Liner, a licensed clinical psychologist and reproductive psychologist specialising in infertility, IVF, pregnancy after loss and postpartum mental health. She’s also an IVF mama herself, so she understands this world from both sides of the chair.

We talk about the stuff that doesn’t make the highlight reel:

    • How infertility can quietly erode your relationship
    • The identity crisis around “egg quality issues”
    • What IVF does to your nervous system
    • Why pregnancy after infertility feels like a confusing in-between
    • Disenfranchised grief and sadness you don’t feel “allowed” to have
    • Rebuilding trust with your body after months of monitoring

We also dive into her story of PCOS, autoimmune issues, egg retrievals, being told at 32 to consider donor eggs, uncovering inflammation and gut imbalances, switching clinics, and eventually welcoming her son, Miles.

You can find Dr. Andrea Liner at

Because understanding both the emotional and biological side of IVF? That’s power.

If you’re trying to conceive and exhausted, in the middle of IVF, pregnant after loss and terrified to relax, or just craving support from someone who truly gets it, this episode is for you.

If Andrea’s story made you realise fertility doesn’t exist in a vacuum, that inflammation, gut health and stress matter, it may be time for a new approach.

I work with women to support fertility from the foundations up. We focus on inflammation, gut health, nervous system regulation and targeted EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, to create the healthiest possible environment for conception and naturally support egg quality.

  • 28. When Trying to Conceive Becomes Exhausting (and How Nervous System Regulation Actually Helps)
    Feb 10 2026

    Share your TTC story ✨

Let’s be real for a second.

Trying to conceive can be absolutely bloody exhausting.
Not just emotionally, but on a whole-body, nervous-system, running-on-fumes level.

In this episode of The Wilde Way, we’re talking about why trying for a baby can feel so draining, even when you’re “coping”, doing all the right things, and holding it together on the outside.

Because TTC isn’t just about tracking cycles and timing sex.
    It’s the waiting.
    The hoping.
    The bracing.
    The monthly emotional gymnastics.
That quiet urgency humming away in the background like a dodgy fridge you can’t ignore.

And yep, your body feels that.

In this episode, I unpack why urgency and waiting don’t just live in your head, but in your nervous system, and why nervous system regulation isn’t some fluffy wellness add-on for fertility. It’s actually pretty central to how supported and safe your body feels while you’re doing this.

I also share a bit of my own recent wake-up call around depletion, burnout, postpartum recovery, and what happens when a body has been giving for a long time and finally goes, “Okay… that’s enough now.”

Inside the episode, we chat about:

    • Why trying to conceive often becomes a full-body state of vigilance
    • How urgency and pressure impact your nervous system and fertility
    • Why your body may shift into protection mode when it’s been under strain
    • The difference between hope and urgency (and why they’re not the same thing)
    • Why “just relax” is trash advice and can honestly get in the bin
    • Five practical, doable ways to regulate your nervous system
    • Why rest, rhythm, and safety matter more than trying harder

This episode is for the woman who’s been giving a lot.
    Holding a lot.
And quietly wondering why she feels so bloody tired.

    You’re not broken.
    Your body isn’t failing you.
    It’s communicating.
