ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ റെഫ്യൂജി ക്രൈസിസിനാണ് 1948 ലെ പലസ്തീനികളുടെ വംശീയ ഉന്മൂലനം കാരണമായത്. പലസ്തീനിയന് സ്വത്വം രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നതിൽ ഈ പലായനത്തിനും വംശീയ ഉന്മൂലനത്തിനുമുള്ള പങ്ക് വലുതാണ്. പിന്നീടുള്ള ദശാബ്ദങ്ങളിൽ ഇസ്രായേൽ പലസ്തീൻ പ്രശ്‌നപരിഹാരത്തിനായി ഉയർന്നു വന്ന ചർച്ചകളിൽ എല്ലാം പ്രധാന ആവശ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്ന് അന്ന് പലായനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ കുടുംബങ്ങളുടെ തിരിച്ചു വരവായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഇന്നും അവർ അഭയാർഥികളായി തുടരുന്നു.

In 1978 PDPA; The People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, the Soviet-backed communist party, conducted a successful revolution and overthrow the Muhammad Daoud Khan regime. This revolution was known as the Saur revolution or April revolution. Communists took over Afghanistan hoping to bring modernization and social progress to the country. But things were not easy for them.
