About this listen

New podcast weblog am Dr. Lena Elisabeth Norrman and I welcome to The Viking Channel. I, as a native Swede, have researched Viking History for more than 25 years and in this channel I would like to share my insight into this time period and what I think you should know from a Scandinavian perspective. In my PhD, pursued at Harvard University between 1998 and 2005, I discussed the female narrative voice in woven tapestries from the Viking Age. The tradition of storytelling has always appealed to me, but the Viking Age tradition of telling stories offers so much more - A world of gods, warfare, trade, craftsmanship, and travels. In the first episode of my Viking Lecture Series I will introduce you to the Vikings - Who they were, where they lived and traveled? And why we know anything about them - the sources?

This is my brief foundation of my lecture series on Viking History that I usually teach at my university classes.
