About this listen

This June, my brother Pablo, our old school mate Bill, and I are setting off on foot from Carlisle to Newcastle, following the line of Hadrian’s Wall from coast to coast. We’re doing it the simple way: no support crew, no shortcuts, no sleeping rough — just walking all day, finding a warm bed at night, and letting the miles sort out our thoughts. Each day we’ll move east through rolling farmland, wild ridges, and long stretches of Roman stone, carrying only what we need and stopping when the legs (or Bill’s knees) tell us it’s time.

Along the way, I’ll be recording a short audio postcard at the end of each day — a few minutes of reflections, small moments, tired laughter, and whatever the landscape leaves rattling around in our heads. No polished takes, no studio voice, just honest field notes from boots-on-the-ground. Think changing weather, pub tables, ancient walls, and three friends rediscovering the rhythm of walking together.

It’s part history walk, part reunion, part moving meditation — and an open invitation to listen in as the days stack up and the North Sea slowly comes into view.Copyright Jackal
