It's been barely a few years since we have been conscious traveling, which means now we have realized that it is important to have a brief introduction about the place even before visiting it physically, to explore the place, to cherish the moment and authenticity that the place has to offer, and when I think about our old expeditions I feel soothed and I get butterflies in my stomach to share it with you.

I also believe that podcast is the best way to share, do not need to put effort into scrolling your mobile screen, would no harm to your eyes, and would not consume your precious time. Then what are you waiting for?

    Hello, we are Saswati and Santanu, welcome back to travelling aloud. Hope you all are doing really well and absolutely ready to be on an audio journey with me. The episode is going to be a little special, special for all my bong listeners. কারণ, আজকের গল্পটা আমি বাংলায় বলবো। Dooars. dooars কিন্তু আদতে বেশ বড় একটা areaকে indicate করে। অর্থ দুয়ার বা দ্বার মানে দরজা বা প্রবেশদ্বার। Dooars আসলে পূর্ব হিমালয়ের foothills মানে পাদদেশের কাছে West Bengal আর Assam জুড়ে বিস্তৃত। ডুয়ার্স ভুটান ও ভারতকে connect করে । এই area টা ভুটান, এমনকি north east India প্রবেশদ্বার। Dooars এর গড় উচ্চতা ১৫০-১৭০০ মিটারের মধ্যে। ডুয়ার্সকে সংকোশ নদী দুই ভাগে ভাগ করেছে। নদীর পূর্বের অংশকে বলা হয় পূর্ব ডুয়ার্স বা Assam ডুয়ার্স এবং পশ্চিমের অংশকে বলে পশ্চিম ডুয়ার্স বা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ডুয়ার্স। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের দার্জিলিং, জলপাইগুড়ি, আলিপুরদুয়ার ও কোচবিহার, সঙ্গে Assam এর ধুবড়ি, কোকড়াঝাড়, বরপেটা, গোয়ালপাড়া ও বঙাইগাঁও জেলা নিয়ে ডুয়ার্স অঞ্চল গঠিত। প্রধান নদীগুলি হল তিস্তা, তোর্সা, জলঢাকা, মহানন্দা, কলজানি, বালাসন । রয়েছে একাধিক np আর sanctuaries, যেমন - Gorumara np Buxa np Jaldapara np Mahananda wildlife sanctuary Kaziranga np Manas np etc etc. Western Dooars মানে পশ্চিম ডুয়ার্স, মানে যেটা actually west Bengal এর northern part এ অবস্থিত। Dooars কিন্তু আসলে famous for its rich biodiversity, forests, wildlife and ethnic people, আর সঙ্গে তাদের culture. আর dooars এর নদীগুলো are just so awesome. নদীর ধার সঙ্গে river bed এর pebbles গুলো নদীর সচ্ছ জলের মধ্যে দিয়ে যখন দেখা যায়, oh my goodness, just অপূর্ব লাগে। শান্তনুর ইচ্ছায় ঠিক হলো 2021এর দুর্গা পুজোটা dooars এই কাটাব। তবু আমার ইচ্ছায় জঙ্গল safari টাই বাদ রাখলাম, 1500/2000 খরচ করে হাতি বা বাইসন দেখা গেলেও যেতে পারে, ব্যাপারটা ঠিক ভালো লাগলো না, আমি particularly গরূমারার কথা বলছি। তো সপ্তমীর দিন, হাওড়া থেকে 8:30র kanchankanya ধরে পরের দিন 9: 30টা নাগাত পৌঁছে গেলাম নিউ মাল জংশন। আগে থেকে বুক করে রাখা রিসোর্ট থেকে গাড়ি স্টেশনে পাঠিয়ে দিয়েছিল, আগে পৌঁছে গেলাম সেখানে। রিসোর্টটি ছিল বাতাবারির ধুপজোড়া এলাকায়। পৌঁছে ফ্রেশ হয়ে আগে জম্পেশ করে lunch সেরে নিলাম। সেদিনের প্ল্যান বলতে শুধু মূর্তি নদী visit করা। রিসর্টের থেকে 5-7 মিন হাঁটলেই নদীর একটা অংশ দেখতে পাওয়া গেলেও, কিন্তু particular sightseeing spot এ না গেলেই তো নয়, তাই একটা Toto ভাড়া করে সেখানেই ছুটলাম। Toto নিয়ে গিয়ে দার করালো Murti Bridge এর মুখটায়। পাস দিয়ে নদীর পাড়ে নেমে পড়লাম দুজন মিলে, ততক্ষনে যথেষ্ট লোকের সমাগম হয়ে গেছে। তাও বলছি, বিকেলের পড়ন্ত রোড ...

    welcome back to Travelling Aloud, this is a travel tale. we are Saswati and Santanu. If you want to experience the forbidden forest of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, then Lepcha Jagat is the place to experience it. Located in the Darjeeling district, accessible via New Jalpaiguri or NJP railway station, also via Bagdogra airport. It's a small hamlet, famous for its spooky enchanted pine forest, tea plantation, and view of the Kanchenjunga range. Lepchas are the original inhabitants of Sikkim, though this is a place of mixed cultures like Lepchas, Bhutias, and Nepalese. When we visited in 2020, only 8 to 10 homestays were there. we wanted to enjoy its solitude. we started our journey from Darjeeling Chowk Bazar. The experience of walking parallelly with the forest in chilly, foggy weather after having tea and then lunch was fabulous. walking is the best way to explore a place. Having tea and Maggie while Buddhist praying flags were flapping with the wind in front. It was Dasherah, or Dasami, or Dasai, an auspicious day for Nepalese, we had an unplanned Musical Night with Guitar and our homestay hosts, and other guests. experienced an illuminated view of Kanchenjunga. enjoyed the morning forest when sunrays entered, pine cones were scattered around, birds were chirping.

    we went to Mirik, Gopaldahara Tea estate was on the way. Mirik is known for Sumendu Lake(a Man-made lake, a kilometer long, surrounded by pine forest on one side and a garden on the other, connected with an 80 ft long arch bridge), Bokar Monastery. we tried Thukpa here, which is a traditional noodle soup, that belongs to the eastern part of Tibet, and traveled to India with Dalai Lama and his team. his mother was also carrying Tsampa, which is supposed to be consumed with butter tea. you can also try boating here.
