Maksim Gelman is an American-Ukrainian man who committed a series of violent crimes in New York City over a 28-hour period in February 2011. Gelman's spree began on February 11, 2011, and included multiple incidents of murder, attempted murder, and carjacking.

In 2009, 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante murdered her 9-year-old neighbor, Elizabeth Olten, in St. Martins, Missouri. Bustamante lured Olten into the woods, where she strangled and stabbed her before burying her in a pre-dug grave. Bustamante confessed, explaining she wanted to experience killing someone.
