Dawn Lovasz and Hadley Chapman are best friends who share a love of wine (Dawn), fantasizing about being single (Hadley), and true crime (both). Dawn and Hadley roll up in Beaver’s Crack and get cracking on the Case of Clovis Anderson, the Wisconsin grandma whose Christmas caroling adventures met a murderous end. Their superfan (and Clovis’s grandson) Dave and his best friend/cow, Mavis, introduce them to the facts of the case -- and the very inept sheriff at the head of the investigation.

Hot on the trail of Clovis’s killer, Dawn and Hadley use their leads from Sheriff Drew to interview the prime suspects. Could it be Jennifer Savage, the CFO of a corporate farm, who was angling for Clovis’s land? One of Clovis’s fellow carolers angling for more than their fair share of Christmas cheer? If only they could find a witness. And some electrolyte water.

Dawn’s gone missing and it’s down to Hadley and Dave to find her in this grand conclusion to Clovis’s tale, that you won’t see coming -- much like the town drunk and all those snowbanks he crashes into.
