Born on 28th May 1883 in Bhagur, district Nasik, Maharashtra, Veer Savarkar was an activist, a political leader and a revolutionary writer. His book called The Indian War of Independence about the Indian Rebellion of 1857 was banned by the British. He along with his brother formed the Abhinav Bharat society, under the pretext of which he influenced revolutionaries against the British. In 1910, Savarkar was arrested by the British government and was ordered to be extradited to India for his connections with India House. On the voyage back to India, Savarkar attempted something which was beyond anyone’s imagination.
