Jethro Tull haben heuer überraschend eine neue Studio-LP herausgebracht. Noch überraschender: Sie ist richtig gut. Gelegenheit einen Blick auf eine der besten und vielseitigsten Bands der 1970er Jahre zu werfen. Dazu braten wir uns ein Roastbeef mit Erbs-Minz-Püree im Schnelldurchlauf. Die Simple Minds hatten 1977 als Punkband begonnen, wurden dann als New Wave Band gehandelt, hatten lange wenig Erfolg und dann lange viel zu viel davon. Letzteres hat ihrer Musik nicht gut getan. Die war zwischen 1979 und 1984 aber wirklich gut, sehr gut sogar: experimentell, manisch, düster mit herrlich assoziativen Texten: Achtziger Jahre Angst statt Popschwulst mit Politkitsch. No cooking, no drinking, but soon. Und ohne Don't You Forget About me - aus lizenzrechtlichen Gründen.
