Katherine introduces you to Dawn Bouillion, founder of Embrace Your Brave, a trauma therapist and coach from Lafayette, Louisiana, who helps women caregivers to dive deep into exploring the hidden trauma they experience and discover that healing is possible, even in the midst of difficult caregiving journeys. Dawn shares her true, emotional story of healing from long-term trauma that she experienced and that led to her passion to help women heal from their own emotional abuse, toxic relationships, and deep-seated trauma. Dawn opened Katherine's eyes to the trauma she has been experiencing as a 21-year caregiver for her husband David who has Parkinson's disease. When you hear Dawn tell her story, you can't help but feel empowered and motivated to take steps to believe as Dawn says, "behind every face is a story to be told, a voice to be heard, a soul to be healed, and a dream to be discovered". Host, Katherine Autin is a 24/7 caregiver for her husband, John David (we call him David) who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2004. At that time, she was a 22-year visionary woman entrepreneur as a jewelry designer, manufacturer, and selling globally to gift and jewelry stores globally. Within a month of David's diagnosis, Katherine began running Parkinson's support groups at the Parkinson Support Center of Kentuckiana (PSCKY), served on their Board of Directors and led education programs. Over time, she became a Parkinson's Expert, known as the "Parkinson's Lady" and in 2018, she became one of the first 149 to be recognized nationally as a Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA). For more than 21 years Katherine has helped to guide hundreds of people living with Parkinson's and their caregivers through very difficult journeys.
