    While it was not the popular thing to do, and often time you were banished from your caste for doing it, hundreds and thousands of South Asian Indians have been nomads during the early part of the 20th century. In 2020, I joined them. 

    I only used about 100 square feet in my 1,000-square foot rental home. It was almost the size of my living room sofa and throw rug where my dog Mattie would give me super special doggy licks pushing me to keep going. Knowing that I needed to leave and without this place to stay, I went through my options:

    # 1 Become homeless (risking our lives).

    # 2 Take sides with the oppressors.

    # 3 Become houseless (giving a new definition to domicile).

    The first episoide sets the tone of how every second I was in that home, it felt like a giant ticking clock, weighing me down. In those dire times, I found myself meditating to ancient Sanskrit verses. It's not that I wanted to leave, either. 6 years I had given my blood, sweat and tears to that home, making a landlord rich, but I had to make a choice, and make it soon.
