This was the first episode we recorded in lockdown and so we start off reeling in shock as we broadcast from our respective homes under a duvet in extremely hot weather. We talk about the brilliant Beastie Boys documentary and one of their rather sleazy hangers on, we ask a genuine professor of music what the point of Noise music is and we welcome actor, comedian and Jazz enthusiast Marcus Brigstocke in to share his Phonographic Memories - and this is a beautiful interview. We also ask the listeners for their choice of song to soundtrack the end of the world. Anne asks the big questions about Lobsters and eternal life without even considering that this is a music podcast and not really concerned with the keys to eternal life. We review the magnificent oral history of sound system culture 'Bass, Mids, Tops' by Joe Muggs and Brian David Stevens. The man with the phonographic memory this week is Pete Rogers one half of Drum & Bass legends Technimatic. Their first album 'Desire Paths' won Drum & Bass album of the year in both Mixmag and the National Drum & Bass Awards.
