Paper Bird Children's Books & Art, owned and run by Director, Jennifer Jackson, has taken off in leaps and bounds since opening its doors in 2016. In this episode Jen talks to us about her vision for Paper Bird, how far its come and the 'dive in and figure it out later' attitude (an attitude we love so much here at WHAT?!) that has seen her Fremantle business go from strength to strength!

Episode 6 is finally up! We're about keeping it real here at WHAT? so we will unashamedly admit that moving house, massive deadlines, uni assignments, festival gigs, parenting and, well, life in general, totally got the better of us this month and something had to give BUT we got there in the end, as we usually do! Please enjoy this episode with the wonderfully warm and soulful artist and art teacher, Dawn Meader. We sat in Dawn's garden studio drinking tea on a sunny afternoon and it was quite magical.

We raided another studio! This time the (jaw-droppingly stunning) studio belonging to artist Anne Gee. When we could tear our eyes away from the incredible art, found objects, books and trinkets lining the walls and shelves, we spoke about...being creative!

This episode we took our roving mic and sat in the park on a bench under a memorial recognising and honouring children of the The Stolen Generation; Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders who were removed from their families between 1910 and 1970, where we spoke with artist Neta Knapp and Bindi-Bindi Dreaming business owner, Marissa Verma. Two passionate, funny and wise Goreing Noongar women. No swears on this one, only a noisy plane or two flying overhead.

Episode 3: Where we chat to are you ready... author, screenwriter, art historian, costume designer, film-maker, tech writer, Dr Kathryn Lefroy, about protecting creative boundaries, dream projects, staying creative, life in LA and San Francisco AND her love of dance movies and The Fast and the Furious franchise. It's a hoot! Some swears, not good for kid's ears.

Episode 2: Join us as we raid the studio of multi award-winning artist, author and illustrator, Frané Lessac and talk to her about world travels, creativity, working through doubt and phallic shaped rocks. Probably not child friendly. Frané has lived a life, that's for sure! Thank you Frané, you are a gift!
