Story1
Between 1894 and 1924, three waves of violence swept across Anatolia, targeting the region's Christian minorities, who had previously accounted for 20 percent of the population. By 1924 the Armenians, Assyrians, and Greeks had been reduced to two percent. Most historians have treated these waves as distinct, isolated events, and successive Turkish governments presented them as an unfortunate sequence of accidents. This is the first account to show that the three were actually part of a single, continuing, and intentional effort to wipe out Anatolia's Christian population.

A radio manufacturer named the Radio Corporation of America, which we know as RCA, began to broadcast its own programs on stations it had either started or purchased. In late 1926, RCA created a division of the company known as the National Broadcasting Company, or NBC. NBC officially started broadcasting on November 15, 1926.To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the company, NBC created a series of shows called Recollection at 30. On September 13, 1994, President Bill Clinton signed what is arguably the most significant piece of legislation from his tenure as president—the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, otherwise known as the 1994 Crime Bill. It was the largest crime legislation in the history of the United States, allocating billions of dollars to hire more cops and build more prisons. And today, 30 years later, as our country reckons with the past decades of mass incarceration, the bill has received widespread backlash, blamed in part for the carceral system we have now. But was it to blame? ...
