Meet your new therapists (and unhinged podcast hosts): A Palestinian-American Queen and her Bajan Rude Boy husband—two mental health pros who should know better. Instead of just nodding and saying ‘mm-hmm,’ we’re screaming into the mic about everything phu@#!’d up in society, from trashing the patriarchy to saying "phu@ 'White Comfort' ", with the grace of a drunk TikTok therapist. Think ‘couples therapy’ meets ‘chaotic debate club’—no copays, just hot takes, cold mistakes, and the occasional Law & Order *dun-dun*. Subscribe before the board says this "isn't very ...

In most states, a person may be held for up to 72 hours for treatment and evaluation of a suspected mental illness. Sometimes, 72 hours can't tell the whole story. The Next 72 Hours brings you the lived realities of Black people navigating the American mental health system. In each episode, psychiatrists Dr. Dani Hairston and Dr. Nwayieze Ndukwe break down and delve into stories of people seeking (or not seeking) mental health help and the repercussions that come with either decision. Through current events and historical happenings, the hosts and their guests explore provocative questions ...

Throughout history, artists and philosophers have cultivated the deep self and seen value in solitude and reflection. But today, through social media, wall-to-wall marketing, reality television and the agitation of modern life, everything feels illuminated, made transparent. We feel bereft without our phones and their cameras and the feeling of instant connectivity. It gets hard to pick up a book, harder still to stay with it. In this eloquent and profound essay, renowned critic Sebastian Smee brings to the surface the idea of inner life.

Her captivating accounts, diligently reported back to her eager American readers, are brought to life in this podcast. (Summary by Mary Reagan)

72 Miles features the stories of three separate interfaith Jewish families–two real, one not, and one mine. Together, they trace 150 years of Kentucky history, with experiences that resonate today—about being Jewish in America. About being Jewish and southern at the same time. About being Jewish, being interfaith, and the blending of the two. This isn’t a podcast about the right way to be Jewish. Or what being Jewish even actually means. Mostly, this is a podcast about the lived experience of what it means to be Jewish in Kentucky. Along the way, I’ll speak with some folks who were ...
