Eve Dallas is one tough cop. She's got no problem dealing with a holiday reveler in a red suit who plunges 37 stories and gives new meaning to the term "sidewalk Santa". But when she gets back to the station and Trudy Lombard shows up, it's all Eve can do to hold it together.

Florence, summer 1963. Inspector Bordelli is one of the few policemen left in the deserted city. He spends his days on routine work and his nights tormented by the heat and mosquitoes. Suddenly one night, a telephone call gives him a new sense of purpose: the suspected death of a wealthy signora. Bordelli rushes to her hilltop villa and picks the locks. In investigating her death he finds the High Priest and his followers are more enmeshed is the earthly passions of lust and jealousy than they would like to imagine.
